Gospel musician Mike Kesse has opened up about his struggle with drug addiction, revealing that it has spiritual roots.
In a discussion on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Kesse shared how God healed him from alcohol abuse and other worldly habits, emphasizing the importance of the spiritual aspect in addressing addiction.
Kesse highlighted that drug dependency can often be generational, passed down through family history. He likened it to a “generational bomb,” noting that certain behaviors or vices can be inherited from ancestors.
Drawing from his own experience, Kesse admitted to relying on alcohol and shisha in the past and highlighted the detrimental effects of drug abuse on one’s emotional and financial well-being.
For Kesse, the turning point in his battle against addiction came through a spiritual awakening. He attributed his recovery to God and acknowledged a calling on his life that he had previously ignored. Despite his success in secular music, Kesse ultimately turned to Christ and has been releasing gospel songs in recent years.
One of Kesse’s latest tracks, ‘Worship Rise,’ is a reflection of his newfound faith and commitment to his spiritual journey.
The Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and performer, who rose to fame after winning TV3’s Mentor and participating in Project Fame West Africa, has transitioned to gospel music with songs like ‘Mehu Yesu,’ ‘Sweet Jesus,’ and ‘Amazing Love.’
