Renowned Seventh-Day Adventist musician and composer, Akuamoah Osei Boateng, has passed away after a brief illness.
With a musical career spanning over 50 years, Boateng was known for his iconic songs such as ‘Yesu Ka Woho’ and ‘Ɔkwantufo’. He was also recognized for his role in nurturing and training talents within and outside the SDA Church.
Boateng, who founded the Advent Missionaries Group, breathed his last at the Accident and Emergency Centre of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Saturday, April 6th, 2024. His brother, Nyanor Asenso, confirmed the news of his passing.
Born into a Muslim family near Effiduase in the Ashanti region, Boateng converted to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at the age of 18. Throughout his life, he effectively balanced his roles as a trained teacher and a musician.
The news of Boateng’s death has deeply affected members of the SDA Church, his fans, and his family. His legacy as a talented composer and mentor will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
