Renowned singer, songwriter, and record producer Carl Snare, also known as CJ Snare, tragically passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024.

As the founding member and frontman of the hard rock/glam metal band FireHouse, Snare had over four decades of experience in the music industry.

Born on December 14, 1969, in Washington, D.C., Snare later moved to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, where he attended Lock Haven High School. After graduating, he relocated to Orlando, Florida, and enrolled in Rollins College, initially studying theater before shifting his focus to music. Apart from being a talented singer, Snare was a classically trained pianist and keyboard player for various bands.

In 1984, Snare and bassist Perry Richardson formed the band FireHouse in North Carolina, alongside guitarist Bill Leverty and drummer Michael Foster. By 1989, the band signed a major record deal with Epic Records and went on to win an American Music Award for Best New Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Group in 1991.

Snare was not only a prolific singer but also a gifted songwriter. He co-wrote most of FireHouse’s songs, seven of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 list. In addition to FireHouse, Snare was also involved with the bands Rubicon Cross and Scrap Metal.

Tragically, on April 5, 2024, CJ Snare passed away due to cardiac arrest at the age of 64. He had been battling various health issues, including stage IV colon cancer since 2020. Despite undergoing life-saving surgery in 2021, he had to take a break from FireHouse in 2023 for another operation, which ultimately impacted his health.
