J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar, two of the biggest names in the music industry, have recently been embroiled in a heated feud with veiled insults being traded through diss tracks.
The feud began when Kendrick Lamar’s guest verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That’ included shots at J.Cole and Drake.
Kendrick took aim at the two rappers for linking their success to his in their track, First Person Shooter.
In response, Cole released his surprise album Might Delete Later, which features a diss track aimed at Kendrick’s remarks.
In the track titled 7 Minute Drill, J.Cole addresses Kendrick’s diss head-on, calling it an attempt to seek attention. He critiques Kendrick for his sporadic releases and suggests that without the diss, nobody would be talking about his rival’s music.
J.Cole warns Kendrick that this is just a “warning shot” and implies that he’s ready for a rap face-off if the West Coast legend wants to take it there. The rapper also expresses confidence in his own skills, stating that he will “humble” Kendrick on the mic.
Fans can listen to J.Cole’s diss track, 7 Minute Drill, on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. The surprise album, Might Delete Later, features twelve tracks with guest appearances from artists like Ari Lennox and Gucci Mane.
This release comes after Cole’s successful sixth solo album, The Off-Season, which debuted in 2021.
