Music enthusiasts in Ghana were treated to a spectacular evening of highlife music on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill.
The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) organized the Authentic Highlife Music Night, where patrons were serenaded with classic highlife tunes.
The lineup of performers included renowned artists such as the Golden Voice of Africa, Pat Thomas, Naa Amanua of Wulomei fame, Smart Nkansah, Yaw Stone from TV3 Mentor, Asabea Cropper, Nene Agyeman Kenteman, and the Rap Doctor himself, Okyeame Kwame. The night concluded with a captivating performance by Amandzeba, who delighted the audience with his timeless hits.
Surprising the guests with his presence, three-time Grammy nominee Rocky Dawuni delivered a masterful rendition of K. Frimpong’s ‘Kyenkyen Biara Di Ma Wu.’ The performances were all backed by the talented Bessa Band.
Expressing gratitude, MUSIGA President Bessa Simons thanked the Ghana Tourism Authority and other supporters for their contributions to the event. The Authentic Highlife Music Night marked the climax of a month-long celebration of Ghana Music Month by the Musicians Union of Ghana.
Throughout the month, MUSIGA organized various activities, including a Music Business seminar on Music and Tourism and Music and Investments, a health screening exercise, and a Play Ghana Music Day where Ghanaian music was highlighted. The festivities will come to a close with a thanksgiving service on April 7, 2024, at the Christian Service Centre in East Legon.
It was an unforgettable night filled with the melodious sounds of highlife music, celebrating Ghana’s rich musical heritage and talent.
