Dumsor is as a result of faulty machines – Prince David Osei

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has once again spoken out about the ongoing power outages in Ghana, commonly known as ‘dumsor.’

Osei, who was actively involved in the #DumsorMustStop campaign back in 2015, where he criticized the John Dramani Mahama administration, shared his thoughts on the current power challenges facing the nation.

Acknowledging that the recent outages were due to faulty machinery, Osei highlighted that many Ghanaians, including himself, have been affected by these disruptions. “We all felt it,” he stated.

Drawing a parallel with a recent power outage incident in Toronto, Canada, Osei emphasized that the main cause of Ghana’s power woes lies in the malfunctioning equipment owned by power suppliers and distributors.

He referenced a publication from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) which claimed a stable national power supply and attributed outages to ‘localised faults.’ Osei called for improved communication from ECG to inform affected citizens about potential outages in the future.

“The whole of downtown Toronto, Canada, went off recently. There was a blackout. So once you are dealing with equipment, you are dealing with machines, and things can fail,” Prince David Osei explained.

By sharing his insights, the actor shed light on the technical challenges contributing to Ghana’s power interruptions and stressed the importance of proactive communication from authorities to manage public expectations during such times.
