A shocking incident has occurred in Assin Akrofuom in the Assin South District of the Central Region, where a 25-year-old man, Richard Manu, has allegedly beheaded his father, Kwaku Manu.
The suspect, also known as Azonto, claims that his father, who is the victim, has spiritually exchanged his prosperous destiny with that of his twin senior brother, leading to the attack on the father.
After beheading his father, he went on to inflict cutlass wounds on his mother and other family members who were in the house at the time of the incident.
An eyewitness, Kojo, recounted the incident, saying “I was asleep when my wife shouted my name. I came out only to find the man slashing his father. So I took a stick, but he threatened to cut me and so I ran out to seek help. When I returned, police patrol cars had already arrested him.”
Kojo added that “He [the suspect] and his dad got along well; they don’t have any grudges. They even sleep together.”
The suspect, who was saved by the police from lynching, is presently receiving treatment at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu under police guard.
The suspect’s uncle, Okyeame Kwame Amankrah, the Akyeamehene of Assin Akrofuom, who also experienced the attack, was shocked by the development.
