Back To The Future star Michael J Fox, who is living with Parkinson’s disease, surprised everyone with an appearance at the Baftas to present the best film award.

Despite being 62 years old and rarely making public appearances, he came onstage in a wheelchair and insisted on standing up at the podium to hand out the prize to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

The Canadian-American actor received a standing ovation, with many social media users posting that they were in tears seeing him on stage. David Tennant, the Bafta host, introduced him as a “true legend of cinema.”
