Actor John Schneider is under fire from fans after criticizing Beyonce’s foray into country music.
Schneider, who is known for his roles in The Dukes of Hazzard and The Haves and the Have Nots, as well as his own country music career, does not believe Beyonce belongs in the country music genre.
His comments came after Beyonce debuted her new country songs, Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages. According to Schneider, artists like Beyonce should stick to their usual genres and not try to venture into country music.
Fans expressed disappointment and criticism of Schneider’s comments, with one fan pointing out that country music was created by black artists.
Others cited examples of established artists, such as Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones, who have previously dabbled in country music. Beyonce is expected to release a country album titled Renaissance: Act II on March 29, 2024.
Many fans have taken to social media to voice their opposition to Schneider’s stance, pointing out the historical influence of black artists on country music and expressing support for Beyonce’s shift to her Texan roots.
This incident highlights ongoing debates over the boundaries of musical genres and cultural appropriation.
