Taylor Swift has joined in the outpouring of donations to support the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the KKFI host of Taste of Tejano who tragically lost her life in the Kansas City Chiefs parade mass shooting this past Wednesday.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family, and at the time of writing, the donations had reached almost $200,000 with contributions from thousands of people, including two generous donations from Taylor Swift totaling $100,000. In a heartfelt message, Swift expressed her deepest sympathies and condolences to the family in the wake of this devastating loss.
The fund was set up to provide vital financial support to Lopez-Galvan’s family as they navigate through this tragic time. The KKFI 90.1 FM, Lopez-Galvan’s employer, also expressed their sincere sadness and heavy hearts at the grim news of her passing. They described Lopez-Galvan as an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to so many in the community.
This tragic event unfolded during the Super Bowl LVIII victory parade, leaving 22 people injured, with Lopez-Galvan tragically dying after suffering a gunshot wound to her abdomen. While the Chief players, coaches, and staff were safe and accounted for after the shooting, social media floated images of several Chiefs players celebrating at a bar following the parade attack, sparking backlash against the team and notably Kelce, who has recently received criticism after the incident.
Swift, who was not in attendance at the parade due to her commitments in Australia, has been making headlines lately for her support for boyfriend Travis Kelce and his team. She recently announced a new album, The Tortured Poet’s Department, and revealed a bonus track for the album. The full album is scheduled for release on April 19th.
The generosity and support displayed by Swift and the countless other donors are a testament to the unity and strength of the Kansas City community during this difficult time as they come together to support the family of Lopez-Galvan.
