President Joe Biden’s recent gaffe has caused quite a stir, sparking jokes in both Mexico and Egypt.
During a press conference, he mistakenly referred to the Mexican President as the Egyptian President, leading to some light-hearted humor at his expense.
The mix-up occurred when President Biden was speaking about his phone call with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
He accidentally stated, “I told President López Obrador that I wanted to work closely with him. We made agreements with Mexico, I think, that are going to surprise people. We’re also going to be talking with President [Abdel Fattah] al-Sisi of Egypt.”
This slip of the tongue led to an eruption of jokes and memes on social media, with many people poking fun at the confusion.
Given the historical significance of the Egyptian pyramids and Mexico’s iconic pyramids like those in Teotihuacan, some have even quipped, “they’ve both got pyramids.”
While gaffes from political leaders are not uncommon, President Biden’s mistake has certainly provided some light-hearted amusement for people in both Mexico and Egypt.
It goes to show that a small slip of the tongue can sometimes lead to a bit of positivity and laughter in what can often be a serious and tense political environment.
