Africa is facing continued instability in several regions, prompting the chairperson of the African Union (AU) to call for more action to address the ongoing conflicts.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, the AU chief, has identified the war in Sudan and the instability in the Democratic Republic of Congo as top priorities for the bloc’s summit.

The ongoing conflicts in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo have been a cause for concern for the AU, as they have led to widespread violence and displacement of civilians. The AU chief has emphasized the need for decisive action to address the root causes of these conflicts and to work towards a peaceful resolution.

In addition to Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the AU chief has also highlighted the need to address other sources of instability in Africa, including the ongoing conflict in Libya and the rise of extremist groups in the Sahel region.

The AU has been working to address these challenges through its Peace and Security Council, and the summit will provide an opportunity for member states to come together to discuss and develop strategies to address these issues.

The call for more action on Africa’s instability comes at a critical time for the continent, as ongoing conflicts continue to have devastating humanitarian and security consequences. The AU chief’s emphasis on addressing these challenges underscores the urgent need for collective action to bring about peace and stability in Africa.
