Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts in Ghana. With a background as a Research Fellow at the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization and a Consultant of Oil and Gas, Jajah brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Born in Bole, in the Savannah Region of Ghana, Jajah holds an MBA in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK, and a BSc in Accounting from the University of Professional Studies, Accra. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ghana.
Some stakeholders in the tourism, culture, and creative arts industry had suggested that the deputy ministerial position be scrapped, citing limited power and impact of those appointed to such positions. However, others believed that the ministry needed a deputy and tipped musician Rex Omar and creative entrepreneur Baba Sadiq as candidates for the position.
Jajah takes over from music executive Mark Okraku-Mantey and will be deputizing for Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, a consummate creative and Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency.
