The Teachers and Educational Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU-GH) and other striking unions are preparing for a crucial meeting with the government to discuss their improved conditions of services.
The meeting is expected to address issues such as their Tier-2 pensions, lump sum payments due to their retirees, and other concerns.
According to Benjamin Nkumsah, the Chairman of the Legon branch of TEWU, the outcome of the meeting will have a significant impact on their decision to either continue with the strike or call it off.
He emphasized the importance of following due processes before making any decision.
Currently, about 10,000 members of the association are on strike. The unions are hopeful that the upcoming meeting with the government will lead to a positive outcome and potentially bring an end to the strike.
