Charles Bissue, the former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee Against Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has emerged victorious in the parliamentary primary for the Essikando-Ketan Constituency.
Bissue secured a total of 333 votes, beating his closest competitors Anna Meizah with 234 votes and Giovanni Agyemang who had 199 votes.
His victory positions him as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the 2024 general elections.
Interestingly, Bissue will be taking over from Joe Ghartey, the incumbent MP who has chosen not to contest again after serving for several years. Ghartey was first voted into the position in 2004 when the constituency was carved out from the larger Sekondi constituency.
