Senior Vice President of IMANI-Africa, Kofi Bentil, has clarified his recent comments about Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasizing that he was presenting what he believed to be facts and not personal opinions.
Bentil, speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, stated that the facts he presented about Dr. Bawumia are verifiable and that convincing people is a different matter.
His comments came in response to a statement he made about Dr. Bawumia endorsing him as the best Vice President ever and highlighting his non-corrupt nature and effectiveness in delivering crucial transformations.
Despite facing disagreements from some individuals, Bentil clarified that his endorsement of the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer is a personal conviction and not reflective of IMANI-Africa’s position.
He stressed that IMANI-Africa does not engage in endorsing political candidates but focuses on their designated tasks and values speaking and owning up to the things they say, regardless of how controversial or difficult they may be.
Bentil also explained that IMANI-Africa has not released a statement declaring their endorsement of the Vice President and that they only issue statements when they have specific information or perspectives to communicate.
He concluded by reiterating that his endorsement of Dr. Bawumia is his personal conviction and not reflective of IMANI-Africa.
