Information Minister-designate Fatimatu Abubakar has expressed her approval of the recent appointment of Ken Ofori-Atta, the former Finance Minister, to a new position, highlighting his extensive financial expertise.
During an interview with TV3 Ghana, Fatimatu Abubakar emphasized Ofori-Atta’s capabilities in offering guidance and advice in the financial sector. She reiterated that despite his shift from the Finance Ministry, his skills are still valuable in other areas.
President Akufo-Addo wasted no time in appointing Ken Ofori-Atta as the Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investments just a day after his removal from the Finance Ministry.
Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare also congratulated Ofori-Atta on his new role and wished him well.
Although some Ghanaians have expressed disappointment with the President’s decision, the Information Minister-designate has provided a rationale for Ofori-Atta’s appointment.
Fatimatu Abubakar highlighted President Akufo-Addo’s recognition of Ofori-Atta’s expertise and assured that his skills will continue to be utilized as needed, even outside the Finance Ministry.
