The Accra High Court has given a directive for lawyers in the Kasoa teenager’s murder case to file their addresses by March 14, 2024. This instruction was issued after the prosecution, led by Nana Adomah Osei, an Assistant State Attorney, concluded the cross-examination of the 18-year-old teenager (the second accused person) in the case.

Mr Lawrence Boampong, the defence counsel, informed the court that they would not be presenting any witnesses as the only person who could testify, the second accused person’s grandfather, has passed away. As a result, the court, presided over by Mrs Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, ordered the lawyers in the matter to file their addresses, emphasizing that the addresses must be submitted as soft copies via emails.

The trial is expected to reach a conclusion following the submission of the addresses. The two teenagers are accused of the murder of 11-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdallah in Kasoa in April 2021 and have been charged with conspiracy and murder.

During the cross-examination, the 18-year-old second accused person denied various allegations. He refuted claims that he bragged about purchasing a Range Rover, stole money, was involved in narcotics, and engaged in constant social vices. Additionally, he denied allegations of planning and executing the murder of Ishmael Mensah Abdallah.

The 18-year-old also rejected claims that he confessed to the police about his involvement in the killing and denied giving the 15-year-old minor a handkerchief and a small bottle containing Chlorophyll.

Furthermore, he insisted that he would not have gone to assist the victim’s father if he had any role in Ishmael’s murder. He also denied accusations that he was part of burying Ishmael while he was still breathing.

The court is diligently pursuing the trial to determine the veracity of these claims and to deliver justice to the deceased and his family.
