Senior Vice President of IMANI-Africa, Kofi Bentil recently vocalized his endorsement of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as a viable leader for the country.
He argued that when assessing the track records of both candidates, in terms of corruption and transformational leadership, any measure applied against Dr Bawumia would also be a failure for Mr Mahama.
During an appearance on Newsfile, Mr. Bentil emphasized that Ghanaians have been presented with a choice between Dr Bawumia and Mr Mahama for the presidency. Although he expressed his displeasure at the New Patriotic Party’s mismanagement of the country, Bentil reflected on the available options and concluded that, overall, Dr Bawumia appeared to be a better choice.
Bentil highlighted that while Mr Mahama has been previously given the opportunity to govern, Dr Bawumia has not yet been tried as president and should be given the opportunity to do so.
He argued that individuals should be selected based on their demonstrated capabilities rather than their past wrong experiences.
Mr. Bentil further stated that Dr Bawumia has not been corrupt during his tenure as vice president, and should be given a fair chance to lead the country and share his vision for Ghana.
