The traffic situation in Accra can be frustrating for many commuters, but for some traders, it’s an opportunity to earn a living.

One such trader is Emmanuel Saakwah, a 24-year-old who lost his father at a young age and has been fending for himself ever since. He sells plantain chips in traffic and also records the number of imported cars at the Tema Harbour, working two jobs to make ends meet.

Coming from the Central Region of Ghana, Emmanuel moved to Accra with no connections and lived in a rented kiosk before finding refuge in his church. Despite his difficult circumstances, Emmanuel has dreams of becoming a doctor and is saving money from his jobs to further his education.

Emmanuel performed well in his WASSCE, but his dream goes beyond academic achievements. He wants to take care of his mother and siblings while pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor who saves lives.

This is a story of resilience and determination, a reminder that no matter the challenges, there is always hope for a better future.
