Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are coordinating to bring the body of the late Dr Mustapha Ahmed back to Ghana.
This is to ensure a proper burial in line with Islamic customs. This was disclosed by Mr Yussif Jajah Issaka, NDC MP for Ayawaso North, who stated that Parliament is committed to ensuring a befitting send-off for the former MP.
Dr Ahmed had travelled to India for medical treatment for a backache but unfortunately passed away after undergoing surgery.
He was 63 years old at the time of his death. Mr Issaka emphasized the need for a well-deserved burial for Dr Ahmed, acknowledging his significant contributions to Ghana’s political and economic landscape.
The Ayawaso East MP from 2001 to 2013, Dr Ahmed was later moved to Ayawaso North after the constituency was redefined. In addition to his political involvement, he was a retired military officer, a dentist, and an estate developer. He also served as the Minister of Youth and Sports in former President John Dramani Mahama’s Administration.
Expressing shock at his death, Dr Alhassan stated that the family is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring his body back to Ghana. Meanwhile, Ms Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, MP for Ada, described Dr Ahmed as a highly respected figure who made significant contributions to Ghana’s political and societal spheres.
