The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come under fire from the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Education for allegedly making conflicting statements about the sustainability of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Dr. Clement Apaak has accused Dr. Bawumia of withholding critical information from Ghanaians regarding the future of the free SHS policy. In a social media post, Dr. Apaak pointed out a disparity between the government’s commitment to review and rationalize the policy during discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Dr. Bawumia’s pledge to uphold and enhance the policy in a national address.
The Member of Parliament for Builsa South has challenged Dr. Bawumia to be forthright with Ghanaians about his position on either reassessing the policy or enhancing it. Dr. Apaak has called on voters to reject the NPP flagbearer and throw their support behind the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
According to Dr. Apaak, Mr. Mahama is a dependable candidate who deserves the trust and mandate of the Ghanaian people to lead the country. This call for transparency and clarity on the free SHS policy from political leaders underscores the importance of honesty and accountability in governance.
