The Tamale South Member of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has expressed concerns over the absence of plans for the agricultural sector in Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision for the country.
Iddrisu emphasized that an individual seeking to lead the nation cannot overlook a sector that employs more than half of the country’s population.
He questioned how any Ghanaian can accept a president who launches policies for the nation without including plans to develop the agricultural sector.
According to Iddrisu, agriculture is the thrust and future of the Ghanaian economy, and it cannot be ignored.
In his address on February 7, Dr Bawumia outlined several policies ranging from the abolishment of the electronic transactions levy to offering tax amnesty to businesses.
However, it is evident that the absence of plans for the agricultural sector in his vision is worrying and cannot be overlooked.
