Achimota School, a prestigious educational institution, celebrated its 97th anniversary with great enthusiasm. The festivities, which took place on Saturday, January 27, 2024, marked the school’s founding day. The event brought together current students, management, staff, and esteemed Akoras (alumni of the school) at the administration block’s forecourt.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the school’s centenary logo, officially initiating the countdown to the momentous 100th-year milestone in 2027. This sets the stage for a three-year buildup leading to the significant centenary celebration.
The celebration kicked off with a lively 6km health walk organized by the Old Achimotan Association (OAA) to promote a healthy lifestyle and enhance unity and well-being within the Akora community.
The centenary theme, “Achimota@100: Celebrating the Vision; Honouring the Legacy; Inspiring the Future,” was unveiled by the President of the Old Achimotan Association, Akora Joel Nettey. The theme encapsulates celebrating the founders’ vision, honoring the rich legacy of the institution, and inspiring future generations.
In his address to the assembly, the Headmaster of Achimota School, Ebenezer Acquaah, conveyed gratitude for the unwavering support extended by the Akora community and underscored that the success of Achimota is significantly indebted to the continued engagement and contributions of its esteemed alumni.
The celebration reached its pinnacle with the symbolic hoisting of both the Ghanaian flag and the Achimota School flag, representing unity and pride in the school’s rich heritage. The focal point of the occasion was the official introduction of the centenary logo, a visual embodiment of the school’s century-long journey and the collective accomplishments of its students, staff, and alumni.
Throughout the upcoming journey leading to the 100th anniversary, there will be an evident display of excitement, fondness, and a commitment to preserving the history and advancing the legacy of Achimota School.
