A long-lost song recorded for Tina Turner’s iconic album Private Dancer has been rediscovered and is set to debut on BBC Radio 2.

The track, titled Hot For You, Baby, was originally intended to be an album track but was ultimately left off the final release in favor of other hit songs like What’s Love Got To Do With It and Better Be Good To Me.

The master tape of Hot For You, Baby was recently found as Turner’s record label prepared for a 40th-anniversary re-release of Private Dancer.

The song, produced by John Grant, showcases Turner’s raspy, soulful vocals and is described as an up-tempo rocker with 1980s flair.

Hot For You, Baby will be played for the first time on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, giving fans a chance to hear Turner’s powerful performance.

The song was written by Australian musicians George Young and Harry Vanda and had previously been recorded by Scottish-Australian singer John Paul Young.

Private Dancer, released in 1984, marked a significant turning point in Turner’s career. After escaping an abusive marriage to Ike Turner, she faced financial struggles before making a triumphant comeback with the album.

Private Dancer went on to sell over 10 million copies and earned Turner three Grammy awards.

The upcoming deluxe edition of Private Dancer will include Hot For You, Baby as well as B-sides, remixes, and live tracks.

The collection will also feature a film of Turner’s performance at Birmingham’s NEC Arena in 1985, with special guest appearances by David Bowie and Bryan Adams.

Turner’s career soared in the mid-1980s, solidifying her status as one of the biggest acts in the world alongside stars like Michael Jackson and Madonna.
