Charterhouse, the renowned organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), has unveiled Telecel Ghana as the fresh category sponsor of the Music for Good award. This prestigious award aims to acknowledge and amplify the positive social impact made by musicians beyond their musical talents.

As part of their transition to Telecel Ghana, the telecommunications giant is introducing a series of rebranded initiatives, which includes amalgamating the Green Award into the existing Music for Good award. The recipient of the Music for Good award will be unveiled at the grand finale of the TGMAs on Saturday, 1st June and will be bestowed with a recognition plaque and a cheque of 20,000 Ghana cedis towards their impactful project.

The Music for Good award seeks to honor an artist who released a song in the preceding year and has gone above and beyond in contributing significantly to a social cause. This could encompass areas such as youth mentorship, health, education, economic empowerment, social development, and environmental initiatives.

The decision to merge the Green Award with the Music for Good award was made to celebrate the diverse contributions of musicians to their communities. This shift from solely focusing on environmental efforts to a broader range of social impact signifies the commitment of TGMAs to recognizing musicians who use their influence to drive positive change and enhance the lives of individuals and communities.

Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, the CEO of Telecel Ghana, expressed the company’s support for the Music for Good award, emphasizing the importance of celebrating musicians who utilize their talents and influence to inspire positive transformations in society.

The Music for Good award is set to highlight musicians who have harnessed their fame and influence to create tangible impact. Theresa Ayoade, the Chief Executive of Charterhouse, believes that the introduction of the Music for Good category aligns with a growing trend in Ghana’s music industry towards acknowledging artists for their social contributions.
