The 25th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) brought to light the importance of recognizing dancers in the music industry, with influential dancer and choreographer, Incredible Zigi, advocating for a dedicated dance category at the prestigious event.
During the presentation of the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste award, alongside fellow dancer Dancegodd Lloyd, Incredible Zigi emphasized the symbiotic relationship between music and dance, stating, “Tonight is not only for artists but for dancers also. Because music and dance go hand in hand.”
Expressing his desire for a separate category for dancers at future TGMA ceremonies, Zigi proposed, “maybe one day we’ll get a category for dancers.” Dancegodd Lloyd echoed his sentiments, highlighting the vital role dancers play in the music industry.
Incredible Zigi is renowned for his groundbreaking work in the field of dance, inspiring Ghanaian youth and elevating the country’s dance talent to international acclaim. As the official choreographer for Ghanaian music icon Stonebwoy, Zigi’s choreography has been featured in several high-profile music videos in 2024, including Stonebwoy’s “Apotheke” and Mr. Drew’s “Sneaky.”
Beyond his choreographic contributions, Zigi is the founder of the annual Dance Fiesta, a platform that celebrates dancers and showcases their talent, with a particular focus on fostering female dance talents. His influential status led to his recognition as one of the 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians by Avance Media in 2021.
Moreover, Zigi has collaborated with major brands such as Guinness, Spotify, Infinix, and Coca-Cola Nigeria, showcasing the global appeal of his exceptional craft.
