From Accra to Berlin: Susan Augustt captivates audiences on renowned stages

Dynamic Ghanaian singer-songwriter, Susan Augustt, recently stole the show at the prestigious Pop-Kultur Festival in Germany, leaving festival-goers in awe of her talent.

As part of a two-month co-creation residency in Berlin, funded by Musicboard Berlin and BlackGirlsGlow in Ghana, Susan Augustt showcased her unique blend of Neo-Afro-soul melodies with traditional Ghanaian rhythms to an international audience.

The Pop-Kultur Festival, established in 2015, serves as a platform for artists to connect with society through their work.

This year’s edition, which marked its tenth anniversary, featured a diverse lineup of artists from various backgrounds and genres.

Susan Augustt, along with other talented performers like Black Sherif from Ghana, Yemi Alade and Lady Donli from Nigeria, and Kabeaushe from Berlin, wowed the crowd with their captivating performances.

Born of Ga and Ewe descent and raised in Obuasi in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, Susan Augustt’s multicultural background has influenced her musical style and versatility.

Singing in English, Twi, and Ga, her music transcends genres and resonates with audiences from all walks of life. From her humble beginnings as a lounge singer to becoming a recording artist in 2016, Augustt has demonstrated growth and dedication to her craft.

During her time in Berlin, Susan Augustt performed at various venues, including Castalian Jam Sessions, Swag Jam at Badehaus Berlin, and Riwaq Berlin, captivating audiences with her soulful performances.

She also collaborated with musicians from different backgrounds, further enriching her musical experience and expanding her artistic horizons.

Upon her return to Ghana, Susan Augustt celebrated her successful residency with a performance at the German Unity event at the German Embassy in Ghana, highlighting the importance of cross-cultural exchange through music.

Her commitment to empowering artists, especially women, and fostering collaboration across borders is evident in her work and her mission in the music industry.
