Ghanaian broadcaster Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) recently shared his thoughts on what makes a great musical performance during a discussion on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z.

While acknowledging the importance of honing stagecraft, KOD also highlighted that not every artiste needs to perform live on stage.

He used legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba as an example, noting that despite Lumba’s immense talent and extensive repertoire, he has always struggled with live performances.

KOD emphasized that some musicians may excel in the recording booth and produce hit tracks without necessarily being able to deliver live on stage.

KOD revealed that during his time living with Lumba, he observed that the musician was not enthusiastic about attending rehearsals or sound checks before performances.

Despite these challenges, Daddy Lumba remains one of the most celebrated musicians in Ghana, with over thirty albums to his credit.
