Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, showed a compassionate side during his recent visit to Kumasi, where he surprised legendary gospel musician Yaw Sarpong, who has been unwell for some time.
Accompanied by Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), and gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong, Dr. Bawumia made a visit to the ailing musician while on a campaign tour in the Ashanti Region.
Chairman Wontumi revealed that he was informed about Yaw Sarpong‘s illness by Nicholas Omane Acheampong, and he wasted no time in informing the Vice President upon his arrival in Kumasi.
As a gesture of goodwill, Dr. Bawumia presented a cash donation of GH₵100,000 to support Yaw Sarpong during his recovery.
The grateful musician expressed his appreciation by warmly greeting the Vice President, while Prophet J.Y. Adu, a popular Kumasi-based prophet, also extended his thanks and well wishes to Dr. Bawumia.
Currently, Yaw Sarpong is receiving care and recuperating at the residence of Prophet J.Y. Adu.
