Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage is tired of the constant criticism she faces for her fashion choices, particularly from her fellow Nigerians.
In a recent interview on the Receipts podcast, the 44-year-old singer and mother opened up about the age-shaming she endures for wearing revealing outfits.
Savage drew a comparison to American superstar Beyoncé, highlighting the cultural differences in how women in their 40s are perceived.
While Beyoncé is celebrated for her beauty and confidence in rocking bikinis at her age, Savage is often met with negative comments and judgment.
“They age-shame me every single day,” Savage expressed, frustrated by the double standard she faces. “They say, a woman of your age, how can you be wearing a bikini? I can because I have a body.”
Addressing concerns about her fashion choices influencing her son, Savage asserted that her son would see her as a powerful and beautiful woman. She emphasized the importance of self-confidence and not succumbing to societal pressures.
