Charterhouse, the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), recently announced that they will be adding seven new categories to the awards ceremony. The PRO of Charterhouse, Roberk Klah, revealed this information during an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
Some of the new categories include Producer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Unsung Artiste of the Year. Klah explained that the Producer of the Year category will recognize a producer’s hit songs in the year under review, and the board will ensure accuracy in the numbers before finalizing the nominations.
In response to concerns about the Sound Engineer of the Year category, Klah clarified that it is awarded to the producer of the song that wins Record of the Year. He also mentioned that there is a one-week provisional window called the errors and omissions phase, which allows stakeholders to submit concerns about any errors or omissions in the nominations.
Additionally, Klah announced that the Unsung Artiste, Music for Good, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Traditional Artiste categories will also be announced soon. This year’s nominations for the TGMA have already been revealed, with Stonebwoy leading with 15 nods, followed by Kuami Eugene with 14 nominations, and Sarkodie with eight nods.
Balck Sheriff, who won Artiste of the Year in 2023, has been nominated six times and is once again in the running for the award. Other nominees for Artiste of the Year include King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy.
The TGMA is gearing up for its much-anticipated silver jubilee ceremony, and fans are eagerly awaiting the results of the upcoming awards show.
