Renowned Ghanaian actress and filmmaker, Kafui Danku, is optimistic about the future of the Ghanaian movie industry with the potential return of former President John Dramani Mahama.
In a recent interview on Channel One TV’s entertainment talk show ‘The Chat,’ Danku emphasized the importance of political involvement in revitalizing the struggling film industry in Ghana.
According to Danku, the Ghanaian film industry has faced challenges such as funding and distribution issues, leading to a decline in recent years. However, she believes that with the anticipated return of John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), positive changes could be on the horizon.
“We have been having issues with funding and distribution,” Danku revealed during the interview. Despite these challenges, she remains hopeful for a brighter future for the industry under the leadership of Mahama and the NDC.
Danku, who is also the author of the book ‘Silence Is Not Golden’ and a staunch member of the NDC, expressed her excitement for the potential impact of Mahama and the party on the Ghanaian film industry.
She highlighted that they are “warming up for some good news in the future” and are hopeful for a positive transformation in the industry.
In addition to her work in advocacy for the film industry, Danku is set to release her new movie, “Fear Women & Look,” on November 1, 2024. The film features a talented cast including Kobi Rana, Clinton, Salma Mumin, and Bella Agyemang.
