Percy Obrempong Agyapong, the President of the Ghana Comedians Network, is advocating for more opportunities for comedians to perform at events.
He believes that government agencies, in particular, can play a significant role in supporting the comedy sector by including comedians in their programs.
Speaking on Joy FM’s CREATIVE INDUSTRY MANIFESTO series on Showbiz A-Z, Agyapong emphasized the importance of comedians being given a platform to showcase their talent.
He expressed that having comedians perform at events not only provides them with income but also helps to increase respect for comedy and attract investment in the industry.
Agyapong suggested that political leaders could take comedians on tours during their assignments, providing them with more exposure and opportunities to showcase their work.
However, he highlighted some challenges faced by comedians, such as high tax rates for their events and a lack of suitable venues for entertainment.
