The highly anticipated Ghana Comedy Awards took place over the weekend, delivering an evening filled with laughter, glamour, and entertainment from Ghana’s top comedians. Hosted by the Creative Republic, the event recognized and celebrated the exceptional talent of comedians such as Lekzy Decomic, Clemento Suarez, OB Amponsah, AKA Ebenezer, and more, who have made significant contributions to the comedy industry.
The ceremony also paid tribute to the legendary Fritz Baffour, a pioneer and trailblazer in the comedy scene for many years. The night was packed with engaging performances from OB Amponsah, Lekzy Decomic, Asia Barcelona, and Ebenezer Dwomoh, along with surprise musical acts from Jupiter, Apaatse, and others, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the event.
Among the highlights of the evening were the announcement of the winners in various categories, including Comic Influencer of the Year – Comedian Waris, Comedy Skit Act of the Year – MJ the Comedian, Most Popular Comedian of the Year – OB Amponsah, Standup Comedian of the Year – Lekzy Decomic, and many more.
The prestigious awards also recognized talents in different fields such as Comedy Cartoonist/Animator of the Year, Comedy Actor and Actress of the Year, Comedy Discovery of the Year, and Comic Media Personality of the Year. The impressive lineup of winners showcased the diverse and vibrant comedy scene in Ghana.
The event concluded with accolades for outstanding achievements in Comedy Theatre/Play, Comedy Club, Comedy Special, Comedy Series, and Comedy Event of the Year, highlighting the growth and creativity within the comedy industry.
