It was less expensive shooting ‘One Night Guests’ in Nigeria – Peter Sedufia

Ghanaian filmmaker Peter Sedufia has recently revealed that it was more cost-effective for him to shoot and produce his upcoming movie, ‘One Night Guests’, in Nigeria.

In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Peter explained that the decision to move production to Nigeria was purely a business one.

According to Peter, finding investors in Ghana proved to be a challenging task, with many showing skepticism despite knowing the filmmaker’s capabilities.

On the other hand, Nigerian investors were more willing to provide financial support for the project. Peter stated, “People know your numbers, they know what you can do but the skepticism is still there.

But you meet a Nigerian business person and they are like ‘oh we like it, we’re gonna give you money.’ And they say that if they give you the money you need to do it where the numbers are.”

One of the major factors that influenced Peter’s decision was the significant difference in the cost of production equipment between Ghana and Nigeria. He highlighted that in Nigeria, he was able to rent equipment for the film at a fraction of the price he would have paid in Ghana.

For instance, Peter mentioned that he could hire a camera for $60-$65 a day in Nigeria, whereas in Ghana, the same equipment would cost him $500-$700 a day.

‘One Night Guests’ is described as a suspenseful drama that delves into the complexities of human relationships and the unpredictability of life-changing events.

The movie boasts a star-studded cast from both Nigeria and Ghana, including actors such as Chidi Mokeme, Ini Edo, Yvonne Okoro, Majid Michel, Warri Pikin, Roselyn Ngissah, James Gardiner, Lasisi Elenu, and Akah Nani.
