Ghanaian movie producer and actor, Fiifi Coleman, recently shared his thoughts on the challenges faced by filmmakers in Ghana. In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Coleman emphasized the high costs associated with movie production in Ghana, especially when compared to the value that media houses place on these films.
Coleman advised fellow producers to prioritize creativity and quality over the potential monetary compensation from networks. He emphasized the importance of having the right distribution channels in place to ensure a return on investment.
In response to actor Mikki Osei Berko’s call for the prosecution of media houses that air international telenovelas during prime time, Coleman cautioned against producing content with the expectation of prime time slots. He pointed out that the decision on prime time slots lies with the TV stations, not the filmmakers.
To have Ghanaian content featured during prime time, Coleman suggested that producers create compelling content that can compete with foreign telenovelas. He urged filmmakers to focus on producing high-quality and engaging content that can captivate audiences.
