Ini Edo Praises Women Taking Leadership Roles in the Creative Industry Across Africa
Renowned Nigerian actress Ini Edo has lauded the efforts of women who continue to step up and lead in various capacities, particularly in the creative sector on the continent.
In a recent interview, the actress reflected on her own contributions to the movie industry, highlighting her role as a co-producer and actress in the widely acclaimed film ‘Shanty Town’.
“I believe it’s a blessing to see women asserting themselves in the creative industry worldwide, including in this generation,” Edo stated during the interview with Joy Prime.
She went on to acknowledge the increasing number of women in Nigeria who have demonstrated their ability to produce and direct successful movies, noting that many blockbuster films have had women at the helm.
This trend, according to Edo, signifies a shift away from viewing women as a ‘minor gender’ in various sectors such as corporate, politics, and the creative arts.
The actress attributed this progress to hard work, confidence, and dedication, asserting that the stereotype of women being unable to handle leadership roles has been shattered, paving the way for a brighter future.
Currently, Edo is in Ghana to promote the upcoming premiere of the movie ‘ONE NIGHT GUESTS’, directed by Peter Sedufia and produced by Chris Odeh.
The film is scheduled to premiere at Silverbird Cinemas in Ghana and Nigeria on December 25, 2024, and features a star-studded cast including Chidi Mokeme, Warri Pikin, Lasisi Elenu, Akah Nnani, Majid Michel, Yvonne Okoro, Roselyn Ngissah, James Gardiner, Annabel, and more.
