Ghanaian movie producer and actor, Fiifi Coleman, has raised concerns about the high cost of movie production in Ghana compared to the value placed on them by media houses.
In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Coleman emphasized the need for producers to focus on creating quality content rather than being swayed by the amount media houses are willing to pay.
According to Coleman, basing a project’s worth on the payment from a network can lead to a compromise in creativity.
He advised producers to prioritize having the right distribution channels in place to ensure a return on their investment in movie production.
Coleman also responded to actor Mikki Osei Berko’s call for the prosecution of media houses that prioritize airing international telenovelas during prime time.
He stressed that producers should not expect the same financial compensation from media houses in Ghana and urged them to focus on creating content that matches the appeal of foreign programs to secure prime time slots.
