Suzanne Collins, the author of the popular “Hunger Games” series, is set to release a new novel titled “Sunrise on the Reaping.”
This novel will be the fifth volume in the dystopian series and is scheduled to be published on March 18, 2025.
The new book will take readers back to the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, set 24 years before the first book in the series.
Fans of the franchise can also look forward to a film adaptation of “Sunrise on the Reaping,” which is set to hit theaters on Nov. 20, 2026.
Francis Lawrence, who has directed previous “Hunger Games” movies, will return as the director for this installment.
Collins had previously stated that she was moving on from the series after the publication of “Mockingjay” in 2010.
However, she surprised fans by releasing “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” in 2020, which was set 64 years before the original book.
For the upcoming novel, Collins drew inspiration from the Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume, exploring themes of implicit submission and propaganda.
The author expressed that the question of “Real or not real?” feels increasingly relevant in today’s world.
The “Hunger Games” franchise has been a huge success, with the first four books selling over 100 million copies worldwide.
The film adaptations have also been widely popular, with Jennifer Lawrence starring as the iconic heroine Katniss Everdeen.
Lionsgate, the production company behind the film series, praised Collins as a master storyteller and creative force.
