Taste 68@68: GTA to showcase Ghana’s rich culinary culture

The Ghana Tourism Authority has introduced a new food festival called “Taste 68@68” with the goal of celebrating and promoting Ghana’s diverse culinary offerings to establish Ghana as a top food tourism destination.

Scheduled to take place at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra on March 14, 2025, the one-day event will feature sixty-eight traditional and contemporary Ghanaian dishes. This festival aims to showcase Ghana’s abundant agricultural produce and provide business opportunities for food entrepreneurs.

The “Taste 68@68” food festival will offer a platform to display Ghana’s culinary diversity, with various food stalls representing dishes from different regions of the country. Additionally, attendees can look forward to cooking competitions, musical and cultural performances, as well as cultural exhibitions.

Maame Efua Houadjeto, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, expressed excitement about the festival, stating that it is a significant step towards promoting Ghanaian cuisine and culture.

She believes that highlighting local dishes will elevate Ghana as a cultural hub in the sub-region.

This food festival is part of the larger Black Star Experience initiative, which aims to position Ghana as the gateway to Africa by showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.

Through events like the “Taste 68@68” festival, the authority hopes to create a lasting impact on visitors and inspire a deeper appreciation for Ghana’s heritage.
