The 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) was a spectacle of glamour, culture, and entertainment, with rapper Okyeame Kwame capturing attention in a stunning Pharaoh-inspired outfit.
On the red carpet, Okyeame Kwame showcased an ensemble that blended intricate Egyptian regalia with traditional Ghanaian Kente fabric. His striking look served as a powerful statement of African pride and identity, celebrating the continent’s rich heritage and pan-African spirit.
Discussing his outfit, the rapper expressed, “Why Cairo? Because there’s a new norm. Africa is rising. Africa is pushing against neo-colonialism. Our identity is elevating… I wanted to remind us all that we come from royalty. Let’s cherish that.”
The entire outfit took three days to create, and while the designer’s name was not revealed during the interview, Okyeame Kwame emphasized the importance of acknowledging the artist’s craftsmanship. “We need to shine a light on the designer and applaud their beautiful work,” he stated.
As excitement built for the night’s performances and award announcements, the “Faithful” hitmaker shared his anticipation of winning accolades. “I’m thrilled about the performances and curious to see who will take home Artist of the Year.
I hope to win one or two awards,” he added.
