Ghana Sees Surge in European Investment Interest After GHETIS24 Summit
A recent event in Paris, France, has sparked a wave of enthusiasm for investing in Ghana, particularly from Europe. The inaugural Ghana-EU Tourism & Investment Summit (GHETIS24) took place from March 6 to March 8, 2024, drawing a diverse group of participants.
GHETIS24 provided a platform for discussions and consultations between Ghanaian business leaders, government officials, creative arts players, tourism experts, and executives from the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA) and potential investors. The summit aimed to showcase Ghana’s potential as a peaceful and stable investment destination in West Africa.
Notably, the timing of GHETIS24 coincided with Ghana’s Independence Day on March 6, and the Ghana Embassy in Paris collaborated with the summit to host the Ghana @67 Independence Reception at Mairie du 16eme in Paris.
One of the key highlights of GHETIS24 was the presence of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Mr. Mark Okraku Mantey, who emphasized the opportunities for private investment in the tourism sector. He highlighted the potential for development, repackaging, and marketing of tourism-related products and facilities, including restaurants, theme parks, nightclubs, casinos, and aviation sports.
Mr. Mantey also spoke about the positive impact of initiatives like the Year of Return and Beyond the Return on Ghana’s tourism industry. He emphasized the contributions that Africans in the Diaspora can make to the continent, citing their resources in terms of knowledge, experience, and expertise.
Since its launch in 2023, GHETIS24 has attracted participants from various sectors, including hospitality, manufacturing, finance, construction, real estate, fashion, transportation, arts, agro-business, and energy. The summit also featured a Trade Mission with 21 companies and organizations, such as TAG Transport and Logistics Ltd, Ghana Post, Allied Financial Services, and more.
GHETIS24 was organized by Ghana Invest and Made In Ghana Consulting Ltd for the Destination Ghana Global Project (DGGP), with support from the Ghana Embassy in France and other government ministries. The summit aimed to promote investment opportunities in Ghana and strengthen partnerships between European investors and Ghanaian businesses.
