The 2024 Kwahu Paragliding Festival in Ghana saw a remarkable turnout of 7,463 attendees, marking a 49% increase from the previous year, as reported by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). The event, which took place from March 29 to April 1, featured 138 tandem flights and 24 solo flights.
During the festival, seven experienced tandem pilots from various countries like the USA, Japan, Peru, Ghana, and Germany took thrill-seekers on unforgettable flights through the skies. Noteworthy was Ghanaian Solo Pilot Isaac Mensah, who achieved a personal milestone with his inaugural successful solo flight from Odweanoma Mountain to Nkwakwa Stadium.
The GTA highlighted the festival’s positive impact on the local tourism and economy, creating opportunities for accommodation providers, food vendors, transportation services, and other businesses. The influx of visitors not only brought revenue to the Kwahu community but also contributed to job creation and the growth of tourism-related enterprises in the region.
The paragliding festival has gained popularity over the years, attracting a larger audience and showcasing a sport that continues to spark interest. The CEO of GTA, Akwasi Agyemang, credited the event’s success to enhanced safety measures and an improved overall experience for attendees.
