Professional basketball player Patrick Beverley, known for his aggressive playing style, found himself in hot water after a playoff game on May 2, 2024.
The NBA suspended him for four games without pay due to his actions during and after the Milwaukee Bucks’ loss against the Indiana Pacers.
During the game, Beverley was caught on camera throwing a basketball at spectators multiple times, with one throw hitting a woman in the head. Following the game, he refused to be interviewed by an ESPN reporter, stating that she could not interview him because she was not subscribed to his podcast.
He then proceeded to ask her to leave the interview circle, prompting ESPN to “ban” him from any future appearances with the network.
The NBA released a statement explaining the reasons behind Beverley’s suspension, citing his behavior towards spectators and the media as unacceptable. The suspension will be served during the next NBA season since the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs, effectively ending their season.
Born on July 12, 1988, Beverley began his NBA career with the Houston Rockets in 2013 before moving on to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the LA Lakers, and the Chicago Bulls. During the 2023-2024 season, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks.
As an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2024-2025 NBA season, Beverley’s future in the league remains uncertain. Despite his talents on the court, his controversial behavior may impact his chances of signing with a new team. Only time will tell where Beverley’s career will take him next.
