Ginnie Springs, a popular spot for outdoor activities in High Springs, Florida, recently closed its doors temporarily following a series of crimes that occurred over Memorial Day Weekend.
The park made the announcement on social media, stating that they would inform the public when admissions would be available again.
Reports from the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office revealed that there was an attempted murder investigation, which later escalated to two separate shootings. Police asked for the public’s help in identifying a suspect described as a dark-skinned, African American female in her early 20s.
After days of investigation and efforts from various law enforcement agencies, Ginnie Springs announced on Facebook that they would be open for daily admissions on May 27 and resume normal operations on May 28 at 8 am.
Located at 7300 NE Ginnie Springs Road, High Springs, Florida, Ginnie Springs is a well-known park with numerous dive sites, including the Devil’s Spring System, the Ginnie Ballroom, and the Santa Fe River. The Devil’s Spring System alone produces nearly 80 million gallons of water daily and offers a unique diving experience.
The park also provides tent sites for camping, facilities like Ginnie’s General Store and Grill, seven volleyball courts, and a children’s playground.
Despite the recent incidents, Ginnie Springs remains a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy nature and water activities.
