AS ONE of Disney World’s most famous attractions, the Cinderella Castle is beloved by millions across the globe.
Recent reports and a shocking video show the 189ft Disney building up in flames after a horror fire. But thankfully, the clip has already been debunked as nothing more than a hoax generated by AI.
Why is ‘Disney World Castle fire’ trending?
A viral TikTok showing the castle on fire spread across social media and even resulted in some news outlets reporting the inferno as real.
As a result, “Disney World Castle fire” began trending on social media, where the hoax has continued to gain traction.
Since being released, the TikTok has already been viewed over 24million times and has been shared around a whopping 195,000 times.
It was captioned: “We aren’t crying, you are… okay we are too.”
While the video is incredibly realistic, eagle-eyed viewers would have noticed the hashtags #aigenerated and #ai, which point to the truth behind the clip.
TikTok account Mouse Trap News were originally responsible for sharing the video. They describe themselves as “the world’s best satire and parody site”.
“You can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun,” the outlet explains.
What have people said about the hoax?
Almost 15,000 people left comments under the fake TikTok video with many of them believing the hoax.
One panicked saying: “I CANT TELL IF ITS REAL OR NOT.”
As another wrote: “How the Cinderella Castle catch fire at Disney World? Ain’t that the happiest place on earth???!”
However, one who did notice the hashtags said: “This is where AI can be scary.
“AI generated footage alone is getting difficult to tell, but inter cutting it with real footage makes it 10x harder.”
Although others weren’t so pleased with the trickery, as one said: “This is a lie .. nothing has happened to the castle.. people like to make up so many stories and lies.”
Before another blasted the account posting the clip saying: “If the castle burned down then every single person In this world would know and it would be the 1st thing on any media platform.
After the TikTok hundreds also showed there concerns on X, formerly known as Twitter, over the supposed fire.
Despite a few noticing the clear hoax some were still left worried.
Before one appeared to clear it up saying: “Cinderella’s castle did not burn to the ground. We live behind Disney.
“There was a fire behind it but the castle still stands. Don’t believe everything here on X.”
