Why did Blue Bloods get canceled after 14 seasons and 15 years on air?

Ble Bloods, the widely successful television series that has run for 14 seasons, has been canceled after nearly 15 years on air.

The drama series follows a family of New York City police officers, including Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan, Will Estes as Jamie Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, Andrew Terraciano as Sean Reagan, and Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan.

Entertainment Weekly reported that president of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, and president of CBS Studios, David Stapf, released a joint statement expressing the show’s legacy and popularity over the years.

The crime series was the No. 1 primetime program on Fridays and the third most-watched broadcast drama during the 2022-23 season with an average of 9.54 million viewers.

The final season of Blue Bloods will premiere its first part on Friday, February 16, at 10 p.m. EST/PST on CBS, with the second part consisting of eight episodes premiering in September 2024. The series is also available for streaming on Pluto, Hulu, Paramount+, and Philo.

Tom Selleck, who portrayed Frank Reagan, expressed his gratefulness for the opportunity to work on the show and interact with its devoted fan base in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

He also spoke about his hope that the show would continue due to its increasing popularity and the abundance of ideas for future episodes.
