Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner recently took to social media to announce the passing of her beloved father, William John Garner, at the age of 85. Known for her successful career in the entertainment industry, Garner has always had a close relationship with her parents.
William John Garner, also known as “Billy,” was a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned his Bachelor and Master of Chemical Engineering degrees. He was married to Patricia Ann Garner for almost 60 years and was the father of Jennifer and her two sisters, Susannah Kay Garner Carpenter and Melissa Garner Wylie.
Jennifer paid a touching tribute to her parents on their 59th wedding anniversary earlier this year, thanking them for providing her and her sisters with a happy and secure upbringing. William worked as a chemical engineer for Union Carbide and was known for his gentle demeanor, quiet strength, and sense of humor.
Jennifer did not disclose the cause of her father’s death but expressed her gratitude to the medical teams at Charleston Area Medical Center and City of Hope for their care. She remembered her father fondly in her Instagram post, highlighting his role as a loving grandfather, husband, and father.
Patricia Ann Garner, Jennifer’s mother, also has a rich history growing up on a farm near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. She shared details about her childhood on the farm, which included no running water or electricity initially. Patricia recalled the richness of the land and the variety of crops they grew, as well as the animals they raised for food.
After her father’s passing, Patricia sold the farm to her brother, who eventually sold it to another sibling. Jennifer later purchased the farm in 2017 with plans to give it a new life, honoring her family’s history and heritage.
