Leslie Carter, a talented singer-songwriter and reality TV star, tragically passed away in January 2012 at the young age of 25 due to a drug overdose.
Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Leslie was born on June 6, 1986, to Jane and Robert Carter. She was the third born, with older siblings Nick, a member of the popular boy band Backstreet Boys, and Bobbie Jean, as well as younger twin siblings, Angel and Aaron.
Following in her brother Nick’s footsteps, Leslie delved into the music industry and signed with DreamWorks Records in 1999. She released the hit song Like Wow! in 2001, which was featured on the Shrek soundtrack. Leslie later founded the band The Other Half in 2006 and transitioned to a more mature pop-rock sound.
Aside from her music career, Leslie also appeared on the E! reality TV show House Of Carters in 2006, alongside her siblings. The show documented the siblings’ attempts to revive their careers and reconnect as a family. Leslie was set to be featured in an upcoming documentary titled Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter, focusing on her brothers’ rise to fame and controversies.
Unfortunately, in January 2012, Leslie was found unresponsive with three different prescription drugs near her body. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead later that day. It was revealed that Leslie was battling depression and was in the process of trying to wean herself off her medication.
Leslie was married to Mike Ashton, the drummer in The Other Half, and they had a daughter named Alyssa Jane in 2011. Alyssa was only a year old when Leslie passed away. In 2019, her brother Aaron made accusations of sexual abuse against Leslie and two other individuals, shedding light on the struggles within the Carter family.
